Default Assassin in Faction missions

I remember 3 years ago I chose assassin to deal some high melee damage. But the primary missions are super "friendly" to this profession, almost every mission I would have to die at least once. Those afflicted will explode after they die, plus their own skills make assassin very easy to get killed. Shiro'ken are worse, the sliver armor can cut down my assassin within 3 seconds. Is it better now?

With the input of new skills, new AI, and heroes who can heal you / kill foes faster than you die from sliver, I would say yes.

All melee die just as slow with Protective Spirit on their heroes. When Factions started you couldn't micro heroes.

Sliver got 'nerfed' so it wont target you only now, every hits a random chance. on top of that I believe that afflicted explosions got toned down a bit.

Considering I (who am nowhere near the best player) managed to H/H most of Factions with an Assassin (except for Eternal Grove, of course, and there was at least one human on the other side of Vizunah Square, and Shiro since I didn't know the trick for H/Hing him) and with far fewer faceplants than my Warrior (even accounting for my Warrior being about half a year older), so I'd say something has been toned down...

Now to get back to finding a build other than Critical Barrage that makes him feel useful and perhaps have a chance to complete dagger combos before the H/H kill what he's fighting. :P (on my Warrior, even calling doesn't seem to get the H/H's attention a lot of the time - but on my Assassin they seem to instantly mob whatever I go for, even when I switch targets :/)

If you are fed up of a typical assasin build try an assa caster and be totally lameway with it :P

Factions foes can be tough, you have the afflicted in Tehnaki temple that some groups have 2 rit healers with a monk to back it up. FoMF + the spirit light heal skill is a little over the top. Especially in HM. Assasins in pve generaly tank or aoe dps with deaths blossom.

Agreed with heros killing things before dagger chains get off..

The idea that you cant repeat a skill if it fails and has to go back to the lead attack annoys me much when you have to fight a group of ranger with WD

@higher minion: when factions started where there heros at all?

in overall response to the OP with max armor and defensive spells that the sin profesion has [crit defences for one] they shouldnt be dropped in a few hits.

Watch out for sliver armor still unless you have minions if you are the only melee in the team then it will still spike you down. I suggest if you are running a spike assasin to take minions as a meatshieild or if you are taking a more tanking build to take ele spells of armor or the assasin defence skills.
